The founder and president of Nike Peller Foundation,the beautiful, elegant and quintessential actress and magician Olanike Peller led some members of her organization on a courtesy visit to the office of the colossus human rights, national freedom and democratic activist who has in the last three years assumed arguably the most prestigious cultural and traditional leadership position of Generalissimo ( Aare Onakakanfo) of Yoruba land - Iba Gani Adams.
Receiving the team with a warm reception, this astute human manager appreciated the courtesy visit. He also pledged his support the organization.
Being in Aare Onakakanfo's presence is truly interesting as nuggets of wisdom are aptly released from time to time.
Who doesn't know Aare Gani Adams? Though rising from a lowly beginning, he has through the grace of God, hardwork and strong determination achieved what could be said to be an impossible task of coordinating a movement of millions of people for more than two decades, yet the people are still loyal to a fault.
The trails and truimphs of this mega star started in 1992 at a tender age of 23, little did he know that greatness was beckoning to him.
It was as yesterday when he was appointed the Public Relations Officer of Mushin local government chapter of Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) in 1993. This is a group that stands for fundamental human rights in Nigeria.
It suffice to say that Aare Gani Adams is primarily a human rights activist. Irrespective of the height attained today, he has not left his first love for the Nigerian people, especially the Yoruba people and most especially for the downtrodden across Yoruba land.
One thing that has continued to stand Aare out among equals is his ability to adequately administer all responsibilities attached to whatever position is privileged to hold. His outstanding performances among Oodua Youth Movement became a catalyst for his involvement in being a prominent member of the foremost youthful Yoruba socio- cultural human rights group known as Oodua Peoples Congress in 1994. Since the mid 1990s till date, Aare Gani Adams has taken Oodua Peoples Congress to enviable heights nationally and globally. He has even added another socio-cultural group that has the inclusion of Yorubas in diaspora- The Oodua Peoples Union. And as at the time of writing this report, Oodua Peoples Union is now in several nations around the world courtesy of Aare Gani Adams.
His installation as the 15th Aare Onakakanfo remains the most elaborate in history. This was not because he is wealthier than the previous Aares, but he sure commands the respect and following of millions of people in and out of the shores of Nigeria.
It is expedient to give careful thought to which leaders you will follow because leaders have the capacity to determine your course in life. The brilliance and quality of character of Aare Gani Adams show him as a leader that deserves following. He exhibits the gracefulness of a leader who is passionate about producing other great leaders. His star naturally enhances other stars' brightness.
Aare reiterates his committiment to a glorious future for the Yorubas. He believes the Yorubas can over come any challenges both now and in future by having a united voice.
